About Us

ASETA (Asociación de Sociedades Españolas Concesionarias de Autopistas, Túneles Puentes y Vías de Peaje) is the Spanish Association of Turnpikes, Tunnels, Bridges and Other Toll Road Concessionaire Companies.

Members of ASETA will be those existing or future companies, founded in national territory that, according to current Spanish legislation, directly or indirectly hold ownership of at least one concession to build, maintain and operate a turnpike, tunnel, bridge or other toll road located in Spanish territory, where tolls are directly collected from the infrastructure user.

Since 1973, ASETA, defends tolling as the most effecient formula to finance the construction, operation and maintenance of high capacity roads and road transport infrastructures. (WHY TOLLS).

ASETA is a full member of the European professional Assosciation of toll road infrastructures operators ASECAP (www.asecap.org), together with 21 national Associations, it also takes part in ASECAP’s Steering Committee and Board of Directors. From May 2009 to May 2010, ASETA’s president is also president of ASECAP. Likewise ASETA is a member of the International Bridge, Tunnel and Turnpike Association IBTTA (www.ibtta.org) with headoffices in Washington (USA). ASETA also plays an active role, among other in the Asociación Española de la Carretera (Spanish Road Association) (www.aecarretera.com) and the Asociación Técnica de Carreteras (Road Technical Association) (www.atc-piarc.com).

ASETA’s governing bodies are the General Assembly and The Steering Committee. ASETA’s president heads the Association Management whith the Executive Director and the General Secretary reporting to him. The internal functional structure includes  different Committees and Working Groups in which experts from various Concessionaries take part  in order to assure its Members’ plural interests.

ASETA’s main activities include, amongst other, the following:

  • Take care of the legitimate interests of its members.
  • Represent the industry in front of any domestic or international organization, authority and entity, putting forward reasoned proposals on problems that concern the common interests of the members.
  • Seek agreements with its members for the development and deployment of common services.
